Pre-employment Screening Requirements

 

The Tohono O’odham Ki:Ki Association conducts pre-employment screening for all positions, which may include a criminal background check, verification of credentials, licenses, certifications, and work history.  In addition, a check of names and identification documents is conducted on all new employees to ensure they are legally authorized to work in the United States.  All employees are required to successfully pass a drug screening test prior to employment; random drug screening tests may be administered post-employment.

 

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Recreation Operations Manager the accredited Fitness Instructor will develop and implement fitness and training programs for the Hanem Kek Recreation and Fitness Center.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develops and delivers a variety of fitness programs.
  • Assists in creating systems and policies that will facilitate the program
  • Assists in the program’s strategic planning components related to TOKA and the Hanem Kek Recreation and Fitness Center, including developing, researching, coordinating, and implementing strategies relating to the function of the program.
  • Assists and motivates clients in reaching individual goals.
  • Ensures the safety of clients during training sessions.
  • Participates in directing the establishment and administration of policies and procedures to guide the TOKA in the consistent delivery of high-quality services to all Tribal members.
  • Participates in developing, planning, and implementing the TOKA’s goals and objectives; establishes and administers policies and procedures.
  • Conduct an initial assessment of clients’ body measurements, assisting in monitoring BMI on a regular basis.
  • Participates in enforcing the Nation’s ordinances and resolutions concerning Recreation and Fitness Center matters.
  • Maintains professional knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience –
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Language Skills - Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Valid Arizona's Drivers License - No DUI’s in past 3 years; No felony convictions.                                          


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited by NCCA. Must obtain this accreditation with in 1 year of employment.
  • Gym Instructor certification. Must obtain this certification within 1 year of employment.
